Generally speaking, Japanese people are good at scientific subjects. There are a lot of companies that are well known in the world, for example Sony, Honda and Toyota etc. Thanks to excellent engineers, these companies have prospered and became famous. Because of that, Japan has developed rapidly during 1960's to 1970's and the standard of living became much higher than that of about five decades ago.
On the other hand, I heard that few students have an interest in scientific subjects in Japan now. Though I don't know the details about this, it seems to be a change for the worse. Now the scientific field is a big market, so competition between companies and nations must be serious. I hope many Japanese students study scientific subjects and take and active part in the world.

I think most people agree that Japan is one of the most advanced countries for science and technology. I imagine it's probably hard for the Government to keep enough student interested in scientific subjects. I think Japanese people have great dexterity, the writing is very hard for me.

#7 The most memorable book I have ever read.
2009.11.18 Wednesday
When I was 15 years old, I read my most memorable book,"Usagi-no-me", which was written by Kenjiro Haitani. I hadn't read a lot since childhood, but in my junior high school days, I had to read two books a year and write reports on them; it was homweork during my summer and winter vaacation. I went to a book store and bought it for the assignment.
I didn't like reading books, so it was troublesome for me. I started reading the book unwillingly; however became interested in it while reading . Though I forget some of the details, it was a story about a teacher and a student who grows up without his parents and it brought up by grandfather. This student is an eccentric boy who keeps flies as pets. He is filthy, so others are deeply prejudiced against him. Moreover, he is not friendly person, so he plays alone and flies are his only friends.
One day, a young woman takes charge of his class. It's hard for others to understand him and they think that he is a problem child, but the teacher tries to understand him by visiting his home many times. The boy finally opens himself up to others and they finally notice that he is not strange through the teacher's efforts. The acts that the others consider strange have meaning for him. after I read this book, I realized again that I should not judge a person on his or her appearance. I have to try to understand others before I judge them. I learned a lot from this book. I was very impressed by the teacher in the book, so I came to think that I wanted to be a teacher like her, but I eventually gave up on becoming teacher; however, I may think about becoming a teacher again if I read that book again.
#6 The best food I have ever tasted.

The best food I have ever tasted."
This started when my grandmother fell down from her brain illness. My grandfather who had never cooked in his life had to cook by himself.(I don't live with them)
At first I thought this situation must be very troubling for him, but this was very difficult for me more than him.
Because he began to cook for her who he loved using his imagination. He tried to make Miso Soup at first and this was unbearable. When I took a sip of the miso soup, I bit something very soft so I looked into it very carefully, and I found bread in it. "Why did he put it into miso soup?"
I don't know why… I couldn't drink it all at that time. And my grandmother liked to eat bread at breakfast so he tried to toast a slice of bread. Toasting was a piece of cake for us, but it looked difficult for him.
Usually we spread jam on a slice of bread after toasting, but he spread jam on it before toasting and what was surprising was that the jam's flavor was not the only one. He put strawberry, orange and blueberry jam on and lastly he put a salty cheese on top of these jams. It looked very bad and the taste was bad too.
I had never eaten such terrible food as this , but I had also never eaten food like this as it was the best because it was cooked for my grandmother by my grandfather. He loves her very much!

#5 Why I prefer cold(warm) weather to warm(cold).
2009.11.03 Tuesday
'I prefer cold weather to warm!'
I love all the seasons because each of the four seasons has many good points. For example, I enjoy all kinds of flowers in spring , the sun reflecting off the sea in summer, autumn colors in hall and a snowy mountain and clear air in winter. In winter, I always hope that summer will come soon because winter is very cold. In summer, I always hope that winter will come early because summer is very hot. Then I just remember that people say "We feel happiness in spring and summer because we have severe winters and vice-versa."
So I love all the seasons and enjoy them . But if I have to choose between cold weather and warm weather , I choose cold weather because I can wear many articles / layers of clothing if it's cold. But I can't take off an article/ layer of clothing. And I sweat easily so I choose cold weather.

Reading the weather in Hiroshima, I guess I prefer the cold because summer here is just TOO DARN HOT! But the spring weather is super!
