ESSAY OF THE WEEK

#11 Who I would become if I could change places with anyone in the world
Who I would become if I would change places anyone in the world'です。

I'd become my mother if I could change places with anyone in the world. I became twenty-nine years old last month. My mother had me when she was twenty-nine years old. These days, I often think of my mother's life. "How did she feel when she had me?" "How did she spend her childhood?"
I said cruel words to her and I behaved awfully during my rebellious years. But she always took the trouble to love me. In those days, I took her love for granted. She always kept her eye on me and raised me with tenderness and strength. I have no children yet, but I want to be a mother like my mother someday.

教師より
I sometimes have similar thoughts about my mother, especially because she married and began having children a young age(23).

If I could change places with anyone in the world, I would become a "Mystery Hunter" of the very famous Japanese quiz program called " Sekai Hushigi Hakken" ( in English , " discovery the world mystery" ) This TV program has been popular in Japan for more than twenty years. In this program, reporters called "mystery hunter " visit many countries and introduce their culture and history. I have watched it since I was a child, and I especially like the mystery hunter, Kanae Takeuchi. She visited more than ninety-seven countries in 20 years. Her reports are always bright and lively. They cheer me up. If I could visit many countries and see many people, it would be great.
I'm really jealous of her life. I would like to visit as many countries as I can . It's my dream.

教師より
It sounds like Ms. Takeuchi has a cool job. I wouldn't envy her though, because although it's an accomplishment to visit more than ninety-seven countries in 20 years, it must also be exhausting. Plus, it's impossible to thoroughly soak up a country's culture if you haven't spent a significant amount of time living there and making a sincere effort to understand the " thinking" of the people.

#10 One thing I cannot live without
'One thing I cannot live without"です

One thing I cannot live without is music. When I really think about it I cannot live without food or drink or oxygen. But I'm thinking about someting that's good for my mental health.
Music is very important in my life; I listen to music everyday and watch music video programs on TV. Somewhere along the line, I stopped listening to Japanese pop songs. My native-speaking English teacher said in class that Japanese pop songs are boring but my classmates said they're not so boring-we love them. And I also thought the same thing as my friends. But now, I agree with the teacher a little because most songs are similar and regarding the lyrics , nothing really stands out, especially in hip-hop, where Japanese Hip-Hop singers copy western singers; and I think Hip-Hop style is not suited to Japanese people.
I listened to western music to improve my English and for a change of pace. When I can follow the words along with the artist's voice, I feel a sense of achievement.

教師より

Although I like many aspects of Japanese culture, I do prefer western music, especially popular western music. But on occasion a Japanese pop song will catch my ear.

#9 How the Internet can change people's lives?
How the internet can change our lives?'

The internet has spread all around the world and it is used not only for personal use but also for business and education. I also use the net almost everyday because it's a way to get various kinds of information. Now the net is intimately connected with our lives, and enriching life and making it more pleasant. If we want to buy something, we can use online shopping without going out. The net can be used for entertainment. I often hear some success stories about net business, I think the net is now a big marketing tool.
However, the net constantly has a lot of problems. There are computer virus, net crimes and the leaking of private information, and so on. as the net becomes even more widespread, these problems will increase. It may be very difficult to solve these problems quickly, so we have to be careful in how we use the net and should not do any illegal activities. All users need to protect themselves as much as they can.
I hope the time when we can use the net without any concerns about these problems will come.

It seems that new technology always brings some bad with the good.
