2009.12.17 Thursday
今週のtopicは'Who I would become if I would change places anyone in the world'です。

I'd become my mother if I could change places with anyone in the world. I became twenty-nine years old last month. My mother had me when she was twenty-nine years old. These days, I often think of my mother's life. "How did she feel when she had me?" "How did she spend her childhood?"
I said cruel words to her and I behaved awfully during my rebellious years. But she always took the trouble to love me. In those days, I took her love for granted. She always kept her eye on me and raised me with tenderness and strength. I have no children yet, but I want to be a mother like my mother someday.

I sometimes have similar thoughts about my mother, especially because she married and began having children a young age(23).

If I could change places with anyone in the world, I would become a "Mystery Hunter" of the very famous Japanese quiz program called " Sekai Hushigi Hakken" ( in English , " discovery the world mystery" ) This TV program has been popular in Japan for more than twenty years. In this program, reporters called "mystery hunter " visit many countries and introduce their culture and history. I have watched it since I was a child, and I especially like the mystery hunter, Kanae Takeuchi. She visited more than ninety-seven countries in 20 years. Her reports are always bright and lively. They cheer me up. If I could visit many countries and see many people, it would be great.
I'm really jealous of her life. I would like to visit as many countries as I can . It's my dream.

It sounds like Ms. Takeuchi has a cool job. I wouldn't envy her though, because although it's an accomplishment to visit more than ninety-seven countries in 20 years, it must also be exhausting. Plus, it's impossible to thoroughly soak up a country's culture if you haven't spent a significant amount of time living there and making a sincere effort to understand the " thinking" of the people.
